Orono Girls High School Hockey proudly welcomes Sean Fish as our new head coach!
Coach Fish previously served as an assistant coach for the last 10 years, most recently on the staff of the 2017-18 St. Michael-Albertville varsity boys hockey state tournament team, and has been a part of that program the last four seasons. He helped the Knights to four consecutive conference titles for the first time in school history. It was also their first section championship and first state tournament appearance in there 43 year history. Prior to STMA he also served as an assistant coach on the Anoka varsity boys staff from 2012-2014.
Before coaching high school hockey Sean spent four seasons as coach in the North American Hockey League with the Alaska Avalanche and the Wichita Falls Wildcats. Each year his teams continued to get better and brought a championship caliber team to the league in which they helped move on 50+ kids to play college hockey and 3 of them becoming draft picks, 2 currently playing in the NHL.
As a player, the Anoka, Minnesota, native was a part of the only state championship team in Anoka’s history in 2003 in which he was serving his second season as team captain. After high school he played two seasons for the Minnesota Blizzard in the NAHL where he also served as team captain.
Collegiately, he was a four-year standout at the University of Wisconsin-Stevens Point, ranking in their top 25 all-time leading scorers. He earned many accolades in his career like being named the team MVP a few times, earning Freshman Athlete of the Year for all sports, and a couple All-Conference honors.
Sean is married to Nicole and they have a six year old daughter named Charlie.
A meet and greet for incoming 2018-19 eligible high school players and parents will be communicated in the next couple weeks. OGH is excited about the upcoming season and looks forward to seeing our fans fill the stands!
